Emotional intelligence is the skill of getting insight, quickly, into what's going on for ourselves and for other people, in terms of feelings and emotions.
We are not logical - most decisions are more influenced by our feelings that pure rationality. So tuning-in to the emotions present in a meeting, or in any form of communication, gives one a critical understanding of how to interact successfully.
This short video explores this principle, and refers to a core mindfulness practice - the body scan - which helps us tune in better to the emotional level.
